Architecture in Helsinki *heart* Snuggle-Ups

August 15th, 2005

OK, so we had nothing to do with this but we thought we’d let you all know that awesome Australian pop doods Architecture in Helsinki gave our boys the Snuggle Ups a little shout out in their recent Pitchfork tour diary. Sayeth AIH: “Local boys The Snuggle-Ups, almost tore the roof off (not to mention all their clothes), before the SF bunch [Still Flyin’] got all those Portland hipsters and briefs moving to the beet.” Righteous!

Blitzen Trapper Tour the West Coast!

July 7th, 2005

Holy crap, it’s true! Our dearest Trappers, they of the freaky pop genius and catchy-wierd brilliance, are about to set off on their first ever tour of the Left Coast. This is exciting. Following a packed CD release show, growing local buzzzzzz, and the first trickling of some much-deserved love from the national press (hello, Pitchfork!), the B-Trap will be heading out on tour on July 9th, heading up to Seattle for an in-studio performance at the amazing KEXP, and methodically hitting up every town from there to San Diego. As I mentioned before, this is the first time the Trapper have ever toured outside if their Portland home, which means for many of you it’s also your first opportunity to finally catch them live. Believe me, they do not disappoint. Bring yr boots and yr dog-chain, cuz the Trapper’s comin’ down. Yee-freeking-haw!

Blitzen Trapper in Portland Mercury

July 6th, 2005

This week’s Portland Mercury has a nice article about perplexing pop genius-wierdos Blitzen Trapper.

I think the reason the six local guys in Blitzen Trapper are so tough to pin down is they jump genres like tiny green frogs on lily pads: light, effortless, too natural and quick to seem like anything but What You’re Supposed to Do. Blues, rock, electronics, country–it all becomes one big happy famire (family/genre). - Adam Gnade, Portland Mercury

Blitzen Trapper on KEXP

June 22nd, 2005

Seattle’s amazing college-not-college radio station KEXP has been playing tracks off Blitzen Trapper’s new album, Field Rexx! Awesome, right? If you said “HELL YES” (and you did) you should totally call or e-mail the wonderful people at KEXP and request some Trapper tunes. I did it and they actually played my song!

Also, as noted elsewhere, the Trapper will be playing live on said station on Saturday, July 9th at 8pm. Tune in and tell yr friends!
