Adelaide Tour Wrap-up

April 5th, 2005

Just got off the phone with Ethan from Adelaide and it sounds like the tour was a total success! The guys had a super great time and played to some very receptive audiences. They also scored a decent chunk of press along the way (self-promotion alert!): check these articles in the Arcata Times-Standard, North Coast Journal, Denton Record-Chronicle, Ottawa Sun, The Pitt News (Austrailia?!), and Columbus Alive. It’s always super exciting to see deserving bands like Adelaide getting love outside the P-town. Good work, dudes, and welcome home!

Blitzen Trapper on Pitchfork

March 24th, 2005

Last Thursday, in the midst of SXSW frenzy, Blitzen Trapper’s new album Field Rexx got the thumbs up from the Oprah’s book club of indie (god bless ‘em): Pitchfork. The writer, Jason Crock, does a great job describing the music and (BONUS!) seems to be a fan. You can read the full review here.

Back on Earth

March 24th, 2005

Well, that was rad. I’m back from SXSW now and I have to say this year was even more fun than the last. Saw a ton of great bands (highlights: Th’ Corn Gangg, Hold Steady, Get Hustle), met some really great people, and got to hang out with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. My new business card (which looks pretty much exactly like this site) was a big hit. Cheers to any new friends reading this page for the first time - leave a comment and say hello!

While I was there I took a bunch of pictures for a forthcoming photo exhibit thing at the lovely Neumu music site. You can see the directors cut here.

I’ll pass on the non-visual/text review and lazily refer you to Amy Philips, Mark Baumgarten, and Michaelangelo Matos instead. The first couple stories here happened to me. The first one was awesome, the second not so. OK, back to (pee) AARGH!!

Hello / Goodbye

March 16th, 2005

Hello world! Today has been a big day for this thing I call Matt Wright PR. I got my first biz cards printed up, as designed by the enormously talented Tyler Stout. Then I took some of Tyler’s design elements and banged out the beginnings of this site. Hopefully this stuff makes me look all pro and stuff, as tomorrow I leave for the giganto music industry schmoozfest that is SXSW. Any awesome music geeks wanting to meet up should hit my celly at 503-679-7499. Goodbye world!
